Avg free antivirus rates and reviews?

I've heard some good things about avg free antivirus software, but is it really safe? Did you expierence any problems with it?

AVG is a good anti-virus software but it is not great. However since AVG is free you have nothing to lose. I personally think Avast is a better choice for free anti-virus software.

I think you should try both of them and see which one you like the best. Just make sure to uninstall your current anti-virus program before installing another. You should never have 2 anti-virus programs installed at the same time.

As of April 2008 they have chosen to turn AVG antivirus into a VIRUS itself with the addition of a "feature" which randomly fires up your PC's web browser WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION taking you to AVG's website to ADVERTISE for their version 8 product suite. Loads of people love AVG and I'm sure you'll find many reviews from computer magazines which will tell you how wonderful it is.
